Cenovus is hiring a Senior Process Engineer - Relief System Technical Authority for its Toledo refinery. This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on pressure relief systems providing technical leadership, ensuring compliance, risk communication, and continuous improvement of safety processes. The engineer will mentor staff, interact with senior leadership, and drive technical solutions to enhance process safety and system efficiency.

What you'll do:

  • Maintain Relief and Flare System technical documentation for the site. This includes the PSV database and flare model. Ensure that relief valve and flare information from all pertinent plant changes are included in the documentation.
  • Provide PSV technical support for Unit Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) revalidations and internal and external audit reviews.
  • Support the planning, preparation, and execution of turnarounds, as related to PSV technical issues and advise projects teams on relief valve sizing and compliance for the site.
  • Provide mentoring on PSV sizing, relief systems, and dispersion analysis to Operations and Technical personnel and utilize process models for defining overpressure scenarios, such as HYSYS and Petrosim.
  • Actively drive PSV Governance Team to prioritize and manage risk reduction, and work in conjunction with the site PSV Mechanical Authority and Mechanical Engineering Team.
  • Applies scientific rigor to evaluations despite business pressure and constraints; prioritizes and sets clear direction, and boundaries in delivery of results; provide PSV troubleshooting advice to Operations and Technical personnel, including PSV block-in approval requests and alternative relief path assessments.

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required. Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience working in refining or relevant industry.
  • Comfortable with driving cross discipline interactions, leading multidiscipline teams and providing recommendations to senior leadership.
