The Opportunity

The Portfolio Management and Reporting team (PM&R) is looking to add a Portfolio Analyst / Engineer to the Portfolio Management & Reporting - US team, based in Charleston, WV, Houston TX, or Calgary, AB.

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Management & Reporting - US, this position will be responsible for overseeing various programs within the USNG Capital and Expense Portfolios by providing visibility and clarity into program performance against target goals through robust analysis and reporting. The individual must possess expertise in collaboration and be able to establish deep relationships with upstream and downstream partners to ensure alignment and remain agile in responding to change.

The successful management of the program is accomplished by focusing on data analysis and predictive analytics to identify data trends, extract insights, articulate recommendations to leadership, and optimize project proposals via our extensive risk ranking and probabilistic modeling process. Strong communication skills are required for frequent reporting and presentations to leadership, including monthly reviews on program progress, trends and insights. The position is also extensively involved in the budget development of the overall USNG Capital and Expense portfolios for submission and approval by senior executives.

What you'll do

  • Analyze data and extract insights relative to project forecasts, expenditures, risk tolerances, and progress of other strategic components of respective program(s)
  • Present monthly to leadership reporting on portfolio progress, trends, and insights
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including Safety and Technical Services Engineering teams, Projects, Financial Planning, Operations, etc.
  • Provide governance of projects and verification of work advancing within program
  • Review project cost and progress on an ongoing basis, consistent with other Capital and Expense programs
  • Program forecasting; determine overall program trends and update PPM Initiatives monthly to manage program forecast in a timely manner
  • Provide support and influence recommendations on portfolio rebalancing to align to budget targets, if and when necessary
  • Extensive involvement in budget development related to US Gas Capital and Expense Portfolios

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education in a related field such as Engineering, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Accounting
  • To be considered as an Engineer, must be registered, or eligible to register, with appropriate state/provincial licensure board as a Professional Engineer in good-standing
  • Six years related experience in oil and gas
    • An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Strong skill with Microsoft Office suite of products, with a primary focus on Excel and PowerBI
  • Previous experience with Pipeline or Facilities Integrity programs
  • Experience providing support for budget management, program forecasting, and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pipe Integrity Engineering and/or threat management experience
  • Program analysis and reporting experience
  • Proven ability to provide and present timely and relevant feedback/reporting to various stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience researching, gathering, analyzing and synthesizing multi-source data and producing clear and precise outputs, reports, and recommendations related to the PI program
  • Experience with project management and execution
  • SAP Portfolio & Project Management (PPM), SAP Project Systems (PS)
