Job Description:

This role is highly analytical and requires a high level of attention to detail and ability to manipulate data. The right individual for the role will be confident in making business and strategic recommendations to drive and/or support the business strategy based on the analysis of data.

The analyst utilizes relevant internal data and analyzes competitive, industry and market intelligence in the pharma benefits arena such as drug trends and compares it to our block of business.

What will you do?

  • Perform planned and ad-hoc detailed analysis to support strategic initiatives, tactical activities and decision making by the Benefits team
  • Perform custom data analysis when required (e.g. for specific client situations or specific projects)
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert for analytical inquiries and support data requests and questions from internal partners related to drug benefits
  • Lead the analysis and development of the Pharma Snapshot, a key communication piece that provides insights on drug benefits trends for our block of business annually
  • Inform changes to the pharma roadmap through trending analysis
  • Support the Benefits team with appropriate data insights for use in materials and presentations including thought leadership pieces
  • Create and maintain data analytics reports and dashboards in Excel, Tableau
  • Proactively identify continuing improvement opportunities
  • Build relationships with key internal stakeholders and foster strategic partnerships
  • Provide support, guidance and training to other members of the Pharma team on data related items

What will you need to succeed?

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
  • At least 4 years experience in a data analytics role
  • Previous group benefits/drug insurance or PBM knowledge/experience. Familiarity with the products offered by Sun Life.
  • Knowledge of Sun Life databases and understanding of drug data
  • Degree in mathematics, finance, accounting and/or in the health sciences.
  • Certified Tableau Analyst
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Tableau and SQL queries with attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
