The position is based in Montreal, the world's international hub for organizations involved in aerospace and aviation. It offers candidates a unique opportunity to work in a global environment to deliver consumer insights that will support airports in improving their overall passenger experience. Remote working days possible as per company policy (10 days in the office per month).
Role description
The Data Analyst, under the supervision of the Manager Airport Traffic Statistics, is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely collection, processing, and quality control of global airport traffic data from over 600 international sources. Key responsibilities include maintaining communication with data providers, managing a schedule of deliverables, and organizing digital records. The analyst performs statistical quality checks and assists in calculating and analyzing data for both regular and ad-hoc reports. The Data Analyst plays a central role in ensuring data accuracy, quality, and relevance to meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Under the supervision of the Manager Airport Traffic Statistics, the Data Analyst shall deliver on the following tasks:
Data collection outputs:
Support the timely collection, input, processing and verification of airport monthly/annual traffic data;
Support the day- to-day communications with data providers (more than 600 international members) related to erroneous data, data submission reminders, queries on statistical nomenclature and other related issues;
Maintain a schedule of deliverables with data providers as well as a searchable archive of digital files of the submitted airport traffic forms;
Update statistical contacts, checklists and data providers for the submission of monthly/annual forms;
Assist supervisor(s) in enhancing the overall data collection process, data quality and estimation of missing data;
Quality control and analytical outputs:
Ensure the quality, accuracy and coherence of the collected data by performing statistical quality control checks; triangulate across several data sources to validate the integrity of the reported data;
Develop tools, checklists, standard operating procedures in tandem with technology solutions and platforms to ensure standardization and quality of historical data (time series) as well as the data collection process and to enhance productivity and efficiency;
Assist supervisor(s) in calculating indicators, tabular and graphical outputs, analysis of data for ad-hoc requests or for inclusion in annual/monthly reports based on the needs of internal and external clients;
Assist in the dissemination of data outputs and indicators to designated stakeholders and clients based on a schedule of monthly deliverables;
Data analysis
Use methods and analytical tools to identify trends, patterns, and insights within data;
Create charts, graphs, and dashboards to present data insights in a clear and accessible way for stakeholders. Make findings understandable for non-technical audiences;
Compile and communicate analysis results through written reports and presentations, providing actionable recommendations based on the data. This may include regular updates or ad-hoc reports to address specific questions or needs from different departments.
Other related tasks as requested by supervisor
Experience and Education
1 to 3 years of experience in data collection, data processing, database development, statistical quality control, data analysis, product development and/or a combination of education and training;
University degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Management Information Systems, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, etc.);
Aviation industry experience an asset.
Skills and Assets:
Strong quantitative and computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint) and intermediate to advanced skills Excel.;
Ability to handle, process and analyse large amounts of data to deliver time sensitive outputs;
Excellent written English skills, with the ability to effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences;
Proficient in creating visualization and presentations, and delivering findings to stakeholders at various levels;
Proactive, collaborative, problem-solving, and detail-oriented approach;
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while adhering to timelines, in time-pressure environments. Flexibility and efficiency in meeting deadlines without compromising the quality of work;
Knowledge of R, Python, SQL and/or other programming languages and data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI) is an asset;
Experience in database development, administration and business analysis is an asset;
Knowledge of statistical quality control techniques and/or estimation of missing data is an asset;
· Experience in developing and executing testing plans is an asset.
