The Comptroller General Academy is accountable for building, coordinating, and sustaining holistic modernized learning, development and capacity building for the Ontario's government finance, risk and controls community and contributes to creating a culture where financial management, internal controls and risk management are embedded in all that we do.

What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies and activities to address government financial management competency and capacity gaps; - Plan, lead and coordinate the development of a financial management competency framework and strategy; - Plan, manage and lead projects from concept to completion; - Lead and coordinate the formulation of recommendations, strategies, and other options; - Plan and lead research activities to identify best practices and emerging tools and methods in learning and development solutions; - Lead the development of mechanisms to monitor and assess the effectiveness of financial management training programs; - Lead initiatives focused on developing, maintaining and/or informing various Corporate Internal Control Framework elements.
How do I qualify?
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- you have expert knowledge of accounting theory, policies, practices, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Auditing Standards and auditing; - you have knowledge of adult education principles/practices; - you have superior financial skills and knowledge to provide expertise, options and recommendations; - you have demonstrated experience in business process assessment, financial control standards and policy development; - you have knowledge of performance measurement development, monitoring and assessment techniques; - you can review/analyze business processes and policies, develop recommendations, and provide related advice.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- you can clearly describe issues and persuasively present recommendations; - you have strong interpersonal and relationship management skills; - you have strong communication skills to produce reports, communicate with stakeholders, and gather information.
Leadership and Organizational Skills
- you have strong leadership, project management and organizational skills to coordinate/manage complex projects; - you demonstrate a high level of judgment and initiative in leading projects and dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Computer Skills
- you have knowledge of financial management systems and related controls; - you are proficient with standard software and can provide support to web administration.
