What You Will Do

You will plan and conduct feasibility studies, develop systems business requirement definitions, develop systems designs, direct system build and implementation, and develop methods and procedures for systems of major complexity. The position formulates logical statements of administrative, scientific and/or technical problems and devises solutions.

You will develop and implement new computer systems and enhances old systems by assessing business problems and requirements, and lead the process in providing and implementing computer systems solutions; lead the technical analysis, provide technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration for business engagement through entire project development lifecycle; plan, supervise and direct work to ensure both the technical and support teams acquires sustainable knowledge, skills and technical competencies and that the goals and objectives of the section are achieved; and manage and maintain a close vendor relationship to ensure solutions are promptly delivered to our end users, collaboratively plans and strategize for continuous improvements of our existing processes/systems and aligning them to our business initiatives.

What Qualifications Do You Bring

  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a relevant discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Extensive hands-on experience designing/implementing/supporting/maintaining large and complex Planning and Transportation Customer Facing based systems.
  • Progressive experience working with the business, establishing user expectations, and delivering a working solution.
  • Experience in Computer-Aided Dispatch / Automatic Vehicle Location and Yard Management (i.e. CleverCAD, Mobile-ITCS, SmartYard) based systems is an asset
  • Experience leading a team to support the development, configuration, implementation of new and existing Computer-Aided Dispatch / Automatic Vehicle Location and Yard Management business applications/products.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring and motivating resources to deliver/implement business aligned solutions.
  • Ability to be on call during weekends and statutory holidays to support critical transit applications, as required.
  • Experience with vendor management and collaboration to ensure a seamless integration with the TTC's existing systems landscape and infrastructure.
  • Must possess sound business judgement; highly developed analytical and problem-solving abilities with a positive mindset tackling new and unforeseeable challenges.
  • Good understanding of system architectures, project execution, data security and audit concepts, quality assurance principles and practices as well as structured techniques for systems design and analysis
  • Good knowledge of disaster recovery (DR), experience in reviewing and providing input into DR plans and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral/written) with an ability to influence decisions and obtain buy-in from various stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to initiate, design, communicate, test, implement, sustain and monitor solutions and process changes.
  • Strong ability to liaise with the business, gather, analyze and document requirements, propose solutions and prioritize delivery.
  • Team player with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Good documentation and presentation skills
  • Good communicator and facilitator skills
