The Role

Reporting to the Director, DBTS Strategy & Planning, the Senior Strategy Consultant will play a crucial role in the enablement and execution of key strategic initiatives. The Senior Strategy Consultant will work closely with DBTS executives and senior technology leaders to shape and advance our Digital Leadership ambitions.

We are seeking an analytical problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a results-driven mindset. The ideal candidate can navigate complex issues, translate them into actionable insights, and collaborate effectively to implement solutions. They should demonstrate strong critical thinking abilities and a hands-on attitude to drive projects from conception to completion.

What will you do?

The Senior Strategy Consultant's main accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategic initiative enablement and execution

  • Lead the execution of a broad range of technology initiatives to advance our strategic priorities

  • Collaborate with the Director to translate problem statements into pragmatic plans, roadmaps, and continuously prioritized backlogs

  • Coordinate large, cross-functional teams that span global Business Groups and technical teams (e.g., API, Cloud, Data & Analytics, DevOps)

  • Develop measurement strategies to quantify the value and impact of initiatives

Communication and relationship management

  • Effectively communicate key insights, ideas, and strategies to executive-level audiences in a clear, compelling, and concise manner

  • Adapt communication style to effectively engage diverse audiences and foster collaborative partnerships

  • Proactively seek out storytelling opportunities and work with Communications partners to develop content

Internal consulting / special projects

  • Design and facilitate problem solving sessions, workshops, and interviews with cross-functional teams and subject-matter experts

  • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to distill key insights

  • Act as a strategic advisor for senior executives - both within the context of strategy project execution and on an ongoing basis

  • Stay informed about company and industry trends by proactively reviewing internal reports and following external market news and research

What do you need to succeed?

  • Five or more years of experience in strategy consulting, digital transformation, or project management roles

  • A post-secondary or equivalent degree with a focus in one of the following: Business, Communications, Economics, Engineering, Humanities, or Technology

  • Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional projects with measurable business impact

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights

  • Outstanding communication skills with significant experience simplifying technical concepts into plain language

  • Strong eye for detail, with a proven ability to spot inconsistencies and errors in complex documents and datasets

  • Demonstrated understanding of digital technologies and their application in financial services

  • Well-developed ability to self-organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment

  • A continuous learning mindset with a passion for staying current on industry trends and emerging technologies

Not necessary, but considered an asset:

  • MBA or other relevant post-graduate degree

  • Management consulting experience

  • Professional project management training and/or PMP designation

  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies

  • Experience working on deliverables for executive audiences (e.g., C-suite)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
