Salary: $86,600-$108,245 annually (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Status: Permanent, Full-Time

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Finance, with dotted line to Senior Manager, Major Projects, the Senior Financial Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial aspects of both the FM-PRO and the Major Projects and Capital Spending Departments, while adhering to all UHN policies, regulatory requirements and audit accountabilities to maintain appropriate internal and financial controls.

Duties

Capital Finance:

  • Prepare month close journal entries
  • Support the major capital projects accounting and planning process
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual operating budget and quarterly operating and project forecasts, long-term cash-flow plans
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis reports for senior management to facilitate the decision making
  • Evaluation of assigned Business cases
  • Develop and maintain specialist knowledge for Ministry funded capital projects
  • Enforce policies and procedures relating to capital spending including UHN cost control and MOH Cost Share Guidelines
  • Liaise with the leadership team on Ministry capital requirements and submissions
  • Work in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act, in a timely manner.
  • Perform other responsibilities to support the directorate and cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification as required.

Operations Finance:

  • Support the development of an operating budget and completion of PCOP, transition, training, start-up costs, and other Ministry submissions for funding of the new MOH funded projects
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager, Major Projects with the coordination and preparation of the operating budget for new projects
  • Manage monthly reporting of transition costs to budget and variance analysis to ensure controls over project performance in coordination with Senior Leadership
  • Coordinate with Case Costing, Decision Support, FM-PRO, and others as required, the inputs for the PCOP, training and start-up costs, and other Ministry submissions as it relates to the operation of the new MOH funded projects
  • In collaboration with clinical stakeholders, facilitate and prepare as required, operational modelling and their financial implications to support operations of new build projects
  • Provides assistance to Managers in controlling their operating budgets

Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent required
  • CPA designation or working towards designation
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Performance Reporting
  • Experience in an accounting or auditing environment with exposure to financial modeling
  • Experience with information technology control processes and systems
  • Experience with activity, workflow and organizational analysis for business/process re-engineering or efficiency improvements
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Experience in a commercial industry preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and embrace challenges
  • Computer literacy, required preferably in a Microsoft office environment, with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly
  • Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial data and information
