Posting Description

The Trauma Program Registry Data Analyst provides appropriate, accurate and timely analyses and interpretation of surgical and trauma care data to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Canadian Institute of Health Information, the American College of Surgeons, and physicians and health care professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately code and abstract clinical data, using standardized national and international classification systems and abstracting software, from patient health records in accordance with international, national, and provincial standards.
  • Ensuring coding/data collection accurately reflects chart documentation and participates in regular quality assurance activities
  • Providing support for quality improvement project teams, analyzing and utilizing excellent understanding of data to develop effective plans to facilitate decision making and project progress.
  • Generating timely and accurate data reports that support patient safety, quality of care and appropriate resource utilization.
  • Performing clinical data management, interpretation and analysis to ensure the appropriate development, analysis and monitoring of clinical care including participating in international, national, regional and site based quality improvement projects.
  • Performing statistical management, interpretation and acting as a primary contact for our surgical and trauma teams interpreting information and ensuring the integrity and efficacy of surgical and trauma data.
  • Communicating effectively with hospital wide departments, building a relationship to ensure corporate and program clinical objectives are met.

Qualifications

  • Certified in Health Information Management (CHIM) by the Canadian College of Health Information Management or equivalent Health Information Management Training required
  • Completion of a Bachelor¿s degree in Health Information Management, or other related field required, clinical background preferred;
  • Completion of an accredited postsecondary Health Information Management diploma program required;
  • One (1) year related experience working in a health care environment preferred;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products, e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio and PowerPoint, required;
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to apply logical thinking to gathering and analyzing information;
  • Excellent coordinating and facilitating skills required;
  • Ability to implement advanced strategies for gathering, reviewing and analyzing data requirements;
  • Ability to prioritize requirements and apply best practices for effective communication and problem solving required.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to listen for clarity and meaning to ensure mutual understanding in a conversation required;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Coding Standards and reporting required
