Join us as a Mechanical Engineer, and you'll be looking at a career-defining role based in Toronto, Ontario.

As part of the Engineering Team, you will provide mechanical engineering expertise to improve reliability, safety, and customer experience of the Bi-Level and UP-Express rail fleet. Create engineering documents to support the development of engineering instructions for fleet modifications to existing equipment and new applications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Re-Engineer, upgrade, create modifications to increase reliability, safety, customer experience of the locomotive and coach fleet.
  • Create Project Initiation documents that will be presented to the customer for approval.
  • Review customer Project Initiation requests and develop the engineering drawings or instructions.
  • Work with Senior Management to quote the engineering proposal for customer approval.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned projects and modifications.
  • Provide oversight, input and expertise to the technicians performing the modifications to ensure installation are done to required specification and expected quality. Complete first article inspection.
  • Collaborate with other internal Department (Supply Chain, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Planning, Maintenance, Training)
  • Create mechanical drawings, diagrams, Bill of Material
  • Prepare presentations to customer and management
  • Provide oversight, input and expertise in the development of job procedures.
  • Support Project Manager in meetings with Customer
  • Lead the design from concept stage to production stage.
  • Support Supply Chain Department in sourcing alternative parts for obsolete components.
  • Mentor Junior Engineer and Engineering Interns


Education Requirements :

  • You possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • License as Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng)
  • PMP will be considered as an asset

Technical Knowledge / Experience

  • Experience in the Rail Industry preferably within a maintenance environment.
  • Catia V5 experience preferred.
  • AutoCAD experience is an asset
  • Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Knowledge of IBM Maximo
  • Experience using SharePoint, Power BI is an asset

  • Office Location: 125 Judson Street, Toronto, ON
  • Occasional travel to Maintenance Facility in Whitby required
