What can I expect to do in this role?

In this position, you will:
• Plan, design, develop and coordinate implementation modelling, data analysis, utilization of GIS, BIS, other tools
and web based application development across the province
• Provide technical direction and guidance for the resolution of issues/problems and monitoring work to meet deadlines and standards
• Develop and maintain working relationships and partnerships and assist in the development of agreements and solutions to meet clients' needs
• Develop and apply technical design to improve modelling, statistics, GIS/BI and other tools to enhance analysis and
reporting that results in quality products.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge and Expertise:

• You have demonstrated knowledge of and experience with common office software, and specialized software (i.e. Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS including ArcGIS online, ArcMap, ArcCatelog, ArcGlobe, ArcINFO, ArcEditor, ArcScene, SQL, QGIS, LIO).
• You have demonstrated experience using geographical information systems, data models, data analysis, and geographic information systems tools to lead multi-disciplinary projects, and perform analyses and to implement geomatics strategy and collaboration mechanisms.
• You have experience using modelling and statistical analysis tools, techniques and software, technology changes in these fields, spatial/tabular data and web development concepts, use of internet map serving technologies and linking to relational databases.
• You have knowledge of geomatics to support client needs and spatial data, and GIS principles, methodologies, mechanisms and techniques.
• You have experience using relational database standards, concepts and models.
• You can manage access of various internal/external data sources and to support ministry/corporate needs and liaise with service providers.

Project Management Skills:

• You have developed project management skills to prioritize and multi-task and to create project outlines and proposals.
• You can direct project resources, scope, assess organizational impacts and make recommendations.
• You can collaborate with the IT Cluster to lead/manage projects including: define deliverables and timelines, coordinate software customization, and data collection, creation, and analysis, provide subject matter expertise, ensure coordination with clients/key partners and monitor program linkages.

Consultative and Collaboration Skills:

• You have demonstrated experience preparing materials, presenting findings, and developing and maintaining technical specifications and documentation.
• You have consultation skills to advise various clients, staff and stakeholders on tools/techniques and reporting strategies, provide technical direction, support and participate on committees and working groups.
• You have proven collaboration skills to work with other ministries to exchange information and knowledge in relation to GIS technologies.
• You have demonstrated presentation skills to explain technical concepts and terminology, present research findings to ministry staff and to conduct demonstrations for clients and ministry staff.

Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:

• You have experience developing procedures/tools to implement initiatives and to manage data access, data quality and integration issues.
• You have the ability to resolve problems affecting concurrent initiatives/projects, and assess industry best practices and the user needs to provide the best options.
• You have the ability to research and evaluate emerging GIS technologies and spatial data to assess the impacts on ministry and external requirements.
• You can develop a geomatics strategy to meet the needs of the ministry and key partners and for promoting the ministry's products/services across the ministry.
