Job Description: Data Scientist, Project Delivery

The Data Scientist will drive the development, configuration, and implementation of advanced analytics and technology solutions to support External Relations' initiatives. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify insights, measure stakeholder and rightsholder sentiment, track engagement progress, and assess the impact of our programs and commitments. The ideal candidate combines a passion for data with strong problem-solving skills, hands-on technical expertise, and the ability to effectively communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Insights

  • Develop and maintain models to measure stakeholder and rightsholder sentiment, engagement effectiveness, and alignment with corporate goals.
  • Analyze historical data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for more effective engagement.
  • Support predictive and prescriptive analytics to forecast potential outcomes and recommend strategies.

Tool Configuration and Optimization

  • Configure and optimize Dynamics 365 for stakeholder relationship management, ensuring seamless data integration and accurate tracking of interactions.
  • Set up and customize Monday.com workflows for project tracking and task management to meet team-specific needs.
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and Tableau visualizations that provide real-time insights into stakeholder engagement and project progress.
  • Collaborate with IT and software providers to troubleshoot, update, and enhance tool functionality.

User Training and Support

  • Develop training materials and deliver hands-on sessions for users of Dynamics 365, Monday.com, and data visualization platforms to ensure adoption and effective use of tools.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide ongoing technical support to team members, addressing questions and challenges promptly.

Data Quality Assurance

  • Implement and conduct regular quality assurance (QA) checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data across all systems.
  • Establish standards and protocols for data entry and maintenance in platforms such as Dynamics 365 and Monday.com.
  • Identify and correct inconsistencies or errors in data and provide recommendations for process improvements to maintain high-quality outputs.

Data Integration and Visualization

  • Design and implement data pipelines that integrate various tools and platforms (e.g., Dynamics 365, Monday.com, Power BI).
  • Ensure the accurate and timely flow of data across systems to maintain consistency and usability in analytics and reporting.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Public Affairs, Community Relations, Indigenous Relations) to understand their data needs and translate business objectives into data-driven solutions.
  • Present findings and insights to leadership and stakeholders in a clear, actionable format.

Innovation and Technology Roadmap

  • Contribute to the development of the External Relations technology roadmap, focusing on configuring and leveraging technology to formalize engagement plans and track commitments.
  • Explore new tools and technologies that enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting capabilities.

Risk Management

  • Identify potential risks based on data trends and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and ethical guidelines in all data-related activities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 6+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related role, preferably in a corporate or consulting environment.
    • Experience in configuring and managing CRM (e.g., Dynamics 365) and project management tools (e.g., Monday.com) is essential.
    • Experience in stakeholder or public engagement analytics is an asset.
    • Proven experience in user training and conducting quality assurance checks on data systems.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for data analysis.
    • Strong hands-on experience with data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau.
    • Proven ability to configure and customize platforms such as Dynamics 365 and Monday.com.
    • Experience with data integration, API connections, and data pipeline creation.
    • Knowledge of machine learning models and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
    • Collaborative mindset and ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
