What can I expect to do in this role?
You will: • develop, test, and implement business processes, systems and procedures to collect, analyze, and consolidate financial information from school boards, into the province's annual budget, quarterly reporting, fall economic statements and Public Accounts • evaluate and develop policy options, proposals, and recommendations to address policy matters such as capital asset reporting, code of accounts, compliance with Public Sector Accounting Standards and ministry reporting requirements • conduct research on accounting standards, and develop training/resource materials to assist the implementation of new accounting standards in the education sector
How do I qualify?
Financial expertise
You have demonstrated knowledge of/experience with: • relevant financial and accounting principles (e.g. Public Sector Accounting Board [PSAB]), policies, standards and best practices related to financial planning and budget development, accrual accounting, modern controllership, and financial reporting/control • large-scale financial reporting systems to perform information analysis and prepare complex reports • development, testing and implementation of business processes, systems and procedures (e.g. modification to EFIS, IFIS)
Analytical and problem-solving skills
You have: • demonstrated knowledge of quantitative analysis methods (e.g. business, economic, statistical, accounting, financial) to analyze and interpret data/information and produce financial reports • problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop recommendations and solutions
Interpersonal and communication skills
You have: • verbal and written communication skills to prepare and present financial reports and recommendations • presentation skills to deliver training sessions and clearly communicate technical information • consultation and advisory skills to advise management and other stakeholders on financial and business issues and to work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders
