The Finance department is currently hiring a Temporary Business Analyst - Financial Reporting & Systems

What You Will Do

You will be responsible for the development, administration and maintenance of general ledger and management reporting systems and processes. Including the analysis, coordination and preparation of accounting records, budgets, reports on the expenditure and performance measurement variances, and related documentation.

As the Business Analyst, you will provide support to the Senior Business Analyst, performing all duties related to the SAP S4 Hana GL system administration, monitoring and maintenance (e.g. responding to user queries, master data maintenance, period and year-end close, reporting, etc.). Including substituting for immediate supervisor as required.

You will provide guidance and training to TTC users of SAP, Finance Reports and TTC's chart of accounts via one-on-one, group classes and workshops and maintains training documents and procedures.

In addition, you will work closely with SAP COE to resolve production issues and to review status of and expedite the timely resolution of pending SAP-related incidents & requests or initiatives. Perform testing for SAP Disaster Recovery exercises typically performed outside of normal business hours. Monitor system interface warnings IDOCs and provide guidance to assist SAP Center of Expertise in error analysis and resolution. Participate in investigating and providing solutions to system defects, changes and upgrades, performing user acceptance testing and supporting Information Technology Services/ SAP Centre of Excellence section

As the Business Analyst, you will also perform and monitor periodic and year-end financial compliance activities including completion of account reconciliations, review of journal entries and review of master data. Ensure the opening and closing of accounts and periods is conducted efficiently, on schedule, in sequence and in collaboration with other finance stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to Management. Prepare the annual budget for the section and reports on the expenditure and performance measurement variances throughout the year

Communicates with management, and key stakeholders findings, proposed changes, and progress on financial reporting systems. Maintain and update financial systems, policies, procedures, and materials. In addition, is the liaison with internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives as defined under this role.

The incumbent will also participate in the TTC's Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Post-secondary school in accounting, business administration or a relevant discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
  • CPA Candidate, in progress of completing or working towards CPA designation or possession of a recognized accounting designation such as CPA (CA, CMA, CGA, ACCA) would be an asset
  • Must have advanced knowledge of SAP General Ledger Module (FICO)
  • In depth knowledge of current accounting policies & principles and auditing standards as well as budgeting methods and variance reporting
  • Experience performing account or system interface reconciliations and preparing or reviewing audit schedules
  • Experience analyzing financial reports, preparing and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations
  • Experience performing master data maintenance or reporting maintenance, period end routines and journal entry and workflow processing in a mainframe general ledger system and/ or ERP system
  • Experience executing IT test plans related to defects, system upgrades or enhancements or disaster recovery testing
  • Assets include: experience preparing financial reports and statements using Public Sector Accounting Standards
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Excel
  • Knowledge of current office automation technology, PC hardware/software and relevant applications (Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Teams, One Drive, SharePoint)
  • Knowledge of various internal controls (manual, general IT controls and application controls) and how to use these controls to mitigate financial risks inherent in large, complex and changing IT systems
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work accurately with strong attention to detail
  • Flexible and comfortable working in an environment of constant change
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, good interpersonal skills, and good oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Sound judgement; well-developed analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
