Scope of Position

At Alterna, we are reimagining everyday banking while supporting the financial futures of our members. The Business Analyst-Digital translates insights into actionable plans within the Digital Channels Applications team. This role will involve translating the needs of our members into user stories and business requirements. You will develop a deep understanding of the digital channel product stack (online banking, mobile) from multiple perspectives- member, technical, operations, business and more.

You will be an integral part of the Digital Channels team supporting the evolution of the digital platform, while ensuring the platform is running through on-call support.

Major Responsibilities

Business and Data Analysis

  • Performs in-depth system analysis to interpret business rules and requirements for technical systems
  • Translates conceptual design into thorough business specifications or into functional solutions (e.g. BRD, User stories)
  • Develops or coordinates and makes recommendations on test scripts to participate in testing sign off or business user sign off
  • Responsible to document procedures, technical requirements and release notes that are appropriate for a technical or a non-technical audience
  • Participates in the implementation and delivery, and provides post-implementation support
  • Works closely with developers, system analysts and other business analysts to ensure that the full effects of any system changes are complete
  • Creates actionable analysis using a diverse set of data and analytical capabilities and tools (excel, SQL, statistical analysis, etc)
  • Provides on call production support for the digital applications

Service design

  • You will understand complex systems and help reorganize longstanding operating models to remove barriers to great experiences
  • Become a subject matter expert for the digital applications from a technical and member perspective
  • Coordinate, schedule and facilitate process improvement and design sessions and apply root cause analysis techniques
  • Perform needs assessments and defines functional requirements of perspective business systems as required
  • You will work with multiple employee groups to help design member-centric solutions.
  • Use various tools to uncover ways to help make our members financial lives easier including journey maps, service patterns and service blueprints to effectively institutionalize customer-centric practices.
  • Act in an advisory/mentoring capacity for other stakeholders, developers and all those involved in the project at hand
  • Support the implementation of process improvements and general maintenance
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a close working relationship with subject matter experts from the business and IT to ensure understanding of business needs

Qualifications

  • University degree in a computer science or related field and equivalent working experience (or working toward a business analysis certification) with business analysis, methods and procedures
  • A minimum 5 years experience at this level
  • Excellent data analysis skills and desire to support data driven decision making.
  • Experience following the iterative and agile SDLC and working in a DevOps/Agile environment (we use Azure DevOps)
  • Solid background in team facilitation, business process analysis and experience in co-coordinating user testing and an ability to translate conceptual design into business specifications or into functional solutions
