What is the Opportunity?

The GRM Operational Risk Reporting Team is responsible for the effective articulation of RBC's Operational Risk profile to the Board and RBC senior executive teams.

As an Associate Director, Operational Risk Reporting you will continuously develop and evolve best in class data and reporting processes, Enterprise reporting practices, exercise influence and provide guidance & support for regional and business level integration. You will work closely with the Operational Risk leadership team, and collaborate widely across Operational Risk community as well as Enterprise Risk counterparts. You will also leverage data as a foundation for enriching reporting.

What will you do?

Lead the Ongoing Evolution of RBC's Operational Risk Management Reporting Practices:

  • Manage the quarterly production of Operational Risk reports for RBC and select material regions; seek continuous enhancements for a streamlined and efficient reporting process including information gathering, data analytics, content visualization and editing, etc.
  • Partner with key stakeholders and lead interlock discussions with Operational Risk leadership team in an effort to effectively articulate RBC's risk profile with forward looking views.
  • Provide insight and execute peer comparison and other ad hoc risk analysis & reporting initiatives to support risk management activities, facilitate risk discussions and enable management actions.
  • Keep apprised of industry and regulatory developments, including emerging risk trends; be in a position of expertise in assessing and recommending best approaches for RBC to adopt by participating in industry forums and interbank working groups.
  • Operate as OneOR, and leverage the value in unit, department, and enterprise-wide teams to develop better solutions and achieve optimal risk management results.

  • Advocate for collaboration and accountability across teams, and be a positive influence to an engaged workforce who are committed, effective and adaptable.

  • Enhance processes to gain efficiencies and to unlock the power of data in all our processes and reporting.

What you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • University education, preferably Graduate degree with a focus in business or related field or professional designation associated with risk management.
  • Strong analytical, writing, content visualizing and editing skills. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and other reporting/presentation/analytical tools is a must.
  • Experience with using data and data related tools to help enhance reporting and gain insights into topics.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, and ability to coordinate complex work across a large group of stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, diligence and diplomacy; capacity to prioritize, perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Risk management or related field experience, knowledge of financial services products, processes, and regulatory environment.
