Please note: This posting is for a 4-month Winter 2025 STUDENT placement with a start date of January 2025 and end-date of April 2025. In order to be eligible for this 4-month Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of April 2025; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in December 2024/April 2025), but you require the work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

What is the opportunity?

The opportunity is to be a part of a dynamic team within RBC Royal Bank’s National Office group responsible for Credit Cards, Payments, Loyalty, and Transformation. You will work as part of an experienced Data and Analytics team that support these businesses with analytics and insights to support development of new opportunities, manage and support business priorities, track and understand key leading and lagging results to drive acquisition and growth in the competitive and innovate payments space where RBC leads with brands such as Avion Rewards, Ion+, RBC Avion Visa, payment innovations and partnerships.

What will you do?

Use your data and analytic skills to help business teams understand trends, solve problems and support business decisions including:

  • Work with data partners to enhance visualization, data availability and automation for reporting needs
  • Develop reports, using tools such as Tableau, required to meet business and financial imperatives
  • Participate in meetings to gather and document business requirements
  • Support business and product teams with data and insights
  • Work in an agile settling supporting Kanban board updates, stand ups and meetings

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Working towards a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or other quantitative discipline
  • Proficient/coding experience in programming languages like SQL, Python, etc.
  • Excellent MS Office Skill – i.e., PowerPoint, Excel
  • Must be a self-starter with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently taking ownership
  • Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to conceptualize strategy
  • Attention to detail, organization, ability to multitask and time management is critical
  • Experience connecting back-end databases/server to front end user interface (e.g data lake to tableau or tableau to tableau)
  • Story telling using data and drawing insights
