What is the opportunity?

Risk Modeling and Analytics Intern

What will you do?

  • Gain knowledge on retail banking and fundamental risk management principals, including the specifics of retail products, enterprise data systems and credit risk management.
  • Support the team's feature generation project including data extraction, transformation and dealing with data quality issues. Work with large, enterprise level datasets leveraging standardized RBC tools such as Python, SAS and SQL.
  • Support regular and ad-hoc reporting and data analytics, and become comfortable communicating and dealing with senior members of the Risk Modeling team.
  • Assist with preparing documentation for audits or other processes.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Desire to learn and an eagerness to make a meaningful contribution to the team environment at RBC Risk Modeling and Analytics.
  • Experience in SAS/R/Python or other mathematical / statistical programming languages.
  • Experience with SQL/Teradata or other database management systems.
  • Ability to handle and organize large amounts of data and effectively summarize / present it to other stakeholders.

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of basic concepts in credit risk (PD, LGD, EAD) and financial data.
  • Good understanding of banking, finance and statistics / calculus

Please note: This posting is for a 4 or 8 months Student placement with a start date of January 2025, and end date of April 2025 or August 2025. In order to be eligible for this 4 or 8months Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of April or August 2025 ; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in April or August 2025), you must require the full 4/8 months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
