Job Description

What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a Business Analyst (co-op student/intern) to join the RBC DI Team this summer. Success in this role will require a highly organized, detail-oriented (accurate and thorough), excellent communicator who can effectively collaborate cross-teams, who is solutions-oriented and who thrives in a dynamic and changing environment.

What will you do?

  • Help drive impactful work across the Direct Investing team, working with a "pod" on a focused project through to completion; for example helping build the strategy for a new technology capability, analyzing data to highlight opportunities for the business, and executing key operational tasks to support our teams

  • Translate business needs, processes and procedures into a workable approach, articulating on specific needs or requirements by helping develop materials to drive alignment with various stakeholders

  • Work closely with teams to ensure materials are prepared and up to date for project updates, team presentations, etc

  • Help benchmark ideas against various competitors in the market, understanding trends that are driving consumer preferences

  • Support with status updates, planning and reporting to senior management, project owners and other stakeholders

  • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders and other key parties, as required

  • Assist with communication with, data collection from, and relationship management of stakeholder(s)

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Ability to think "big picture" while balancing smaller details

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with a focus on "what are we solving for"

  • Strong competencies in relationship management, collaboration, and time management

  • Experience with driving tasks and projects through to completion

  • Demonstrated ability to work on both individual tasks and collaborative projects

  • Desire to always put the client first when working towards solutions

Nice to have:

  • Experience leading small projects and/or building project/initiative requirements

  • Previous experience in the Investment industry

  • Experience working on projects with information technology components

  • Experience working with a Design Thinking approach

Please note:

In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or

  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
