What would my role be?

Reporting to the Manager of Applications, you will be responsible for applications used at Bruyère Health, supporting users from diverse groups such as Clinical, Human Resources, Finance, Admissions, Decision Support, Health Records, Pharmacy and Volunteer Services.. These applications are used by approximately 3000 users at three sites. You will provide primary support on several key applications. Support activities include:

  • Providing end-user support.
  • Analyzing and defining user requirements.
  • Coding, testing and debugging applications.
  • Configuring applications.
  • Developing custom reports.
  • Troubleshooting problems.
  • Managing system updates.
  • Writing documentation.
  • Escalating issues to vendors.

You will also:

  • Participate in the selection and implementation of new application software.
  • Sit on committees and identify system requirements and functional improvements through meetings and interviews.
  • Work closely with the vendor, network administrator and users throughout the implementation process
  • Work in conjunction with the network administrator to select and implement application servers and to ensure that adequate disaster recovery procedures are in place.

How do I qualify?

Required:

  • Three (3) year Community College Diploma or degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with current Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with programming tools, languages, and best practices.
  • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as SQL server and/or Oracle.
  • Experience with structured systems analysis and design.
  • Experience with defining user requirements and writing specifications documents
  • Experience working with users and vendors to install systems.
  • Experience with report development technologies such as Power BI, Oracle Reports, SQL Server, Reporting Services SSRS, Crystal Reports, Cognos or similar report writing tool
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power App and Power Automate).
  • Experience with writing technical documents.

Preferred:

  • Experience creating reports using Cognos BI in UKG Pro or other workforce and human resource SaaS platform.
  • Experience working with REST APIs.
  • Experience with an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems such as MEDITECH, EPIC, PointClickCare.
  • Experience with health systems.
  • Knowledge of HRIS (Human Resources Information System).
  • Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement).)

  • Familiar with a broad range of the organization's business areas. For example: Finance, Human Resources, Health Records, Admissions and Patient Care.
  • Structured, analytical approach.
  • Able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work independently, or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with project management tools.
  • Able to contribute to the planning, coordination, execution and evaluation of various projects within Bruyère Health Information Systems department.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Knowledge in cyber security, security best practices, risk assessments and a passion for staying ahead of emerging threats.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
