The Mint is hiring a Process Engineer for a 12-month term who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Process Engineering, the Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the Ottawa manufacturing facility. The incumbent will be focused on developing technical documents and participating with the broader team on engineering solutions to resolve production issues.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Technical writing with a focus on developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Process Control Plans (PCP), Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) documents as they relate to the manufacturing process.
  • Provide technical support to production for reliable and effective manufacturing.
  • Participate in problem analysis, root cause analysis and solution recommendation; hands-on approach is a requirement.
  • Provide hands-on skills to complete projects related to precious metal casting, processing and material handling.
  • Participate in continual improvement projects relating to processes, materials, machinery and technology.
  • Participate in the review of Environmental and Health and Safety requirements relating to the manufacturing process.

This opening is to be filled on a hybrid working arrangement, and the incumbent will be required to work from the Ottawa location a minimum of 3 days a week which could change based on operational requirements.

Qualifications:

Languages Requirements:

  • An intermediate level of bilingual proficiency in both official languages (English / French) is required at the time of hire. If a bilingual candidate is not identified, other candidate language profiles may be considered in accordance with the Mint's Staffing Policy.

Education & Designation:

  • University degree in Engineering with specialization in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer or Engineering Intern (PEO or OIQ).

Experience:

  • Experience with writing technical documents is a requirement.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Problem identification and resolution using an experimental, scientific approach is an asset.
  • Aptitude and ability to understand complex equipment and processes.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in non-ferrous and/or precious metal processing, metal forming and metal finishing is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy, including knowledge and experience using six-sigma methodology is an asset.
  • Prior exposure to ISO environments and work experience in Lean Manufacturing / Lean Enterprise environment is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Shows a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to be autonomous and a self-starter.
  • Able to collaborate with other team members, with the ability to influence and persuade others while also being open to receiving suggestions and feedback.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
