What would my role be?

Reporting to the Manager, Applications, you will be responsible for applications within Bruyère's network, incorporating users from diverse groups such as Clinical, Human Resources, Finance, Admissions, Decision Support, Health Records, Pharmacy and Volunteer Services. The applications are used by approximately 3,000 users at three sites. You will also:

  • Work with administrative and clinical hospital departments and groups as well as the Manager, Applications and the Chief Technology Officer, Information Systems, to ensure the best use of technology to support the hospital's business goals. Since you will operate as a liaison between technical personnel and various end-user departments, she/he must carefully manage user expectations.
  • Provide the overview knowledge of all key applications at Bruyère. It is critical that the Application Analyst maintains this comprehensive understanding of key applications and business processes.
  • Manage the planning, execution, and monitoring of IT projects
  • Recommend effective ways to minimize duplication and optimize workflows.
  • Be pro-active in identifying potential areas for new automations and/or interfaces and subsequently developing specifications to ensure the integrity and accuracy of system information.
  • Provide primary support on a small selection of key applications.
  • Actively participate in projects to select and implement new application software.
  • Sit on committees and identify system requirements and functional improvements through meetings and interviews.
  • Participate in the preparation of the Request for Proposal (RFP) and evaluates responses, leading to the final selection.
  • Subsequent to the acquisition of new application software, help plan and co-ordinate the implementation project.
  • Actively participate in hands-on work during the implementation.

How do I qualify?

Required:

  • College Diploma in computer systems or other relevant field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Strong leadership and hands-on experience with project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
  • Experience with structured systems analysis and design
  • Experience defining user requirements and writing specifications documents.
  • Experience evaluating, selecting and installing systems.
  • Experience leading implementation projects
  • Experience working with users and vendors to install systems.
  • Experience assisting users in testing and system upgrades.
  • Experience with report development technologies
  • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems
  • Experience with programming tools, languages and best practices
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power App and Power Automate).

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems)
  • Experience with an Electronic Patient Record such as MEDITECH and EPIC
  • Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement).

What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?

  • Understanding of hospital business processes, system development lifecycle methodology, Ministry of Health and CIHI requirements.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of the organization's business areas for example: Clinical, Finance, Human Resources, Health Records, Decision Support, Admission and Patient Care Plan.
  • Structured and analytical approach
  • Able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work independently, or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle and SQL server
  • Experience with report development technologies (such as Power BI, Oracle Reports, SQL Server Reporting Services SSRS, Crystal Reports, Cognos or similar report writing tool).
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with project management tools
  • Knowledge in cyber security, security best practices, risk assessments and a passion for staying ahead of emerging threats.
  • Good understanding of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
