Summary

As a member of the Enterprise Data Platforms team, the Technical Architect will play a leading role in proactively analyzing, designing, engineering Network Data and AI/ML platforms and to identify and evaluate future technologies that may have a significant impact on our technology environment and software development processes and to improve our platforms' performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a Data and AI/ML platform expert.
  • Lead and participate in the analysis, architecture, design and engineering of Data & AI/ML platform technologies and components and provide input to architectural discussions, decisions, and roadmaps.
  • Create and maintain end-to-end technology view and roadmap of platform components considering current requirements and anticipated future network data needs.
  • Apply technical expertise and leadership in providing technology recommendation based on thorough analysis, industry research and hands on evaluations.
  • Work closely with solution providers, product management and other technical and business teams.
  • End to end thinking and proactive consideration of various aspects including customer experience, operational support, security and privacy in the design/architecture of platform solutions.
  • Ability to bring together cross-functional teams across Network, Information Technology and others to collaborate, design and deliver Use Cases/Solutions that create business value for Bell.

Critical Qualifications

  • A Bachelor or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years experience at the solution architecture level.
  • Knowledge and expertise in designing and building Data platforms, data warehousing / data analytics solutions such as BigQuery, Teradata and cloud native solutions.
  • Knowledge and expertise of open data lakehouse using Apache Iceberg with popular data engines such as Apache Spark or Flink.
  • Intermediate working level knowledge of data processing methodologies and tools such as DataProc and Dataflow in GCP, DataStage and Informatica.
  • Hands on experience with cloud hyperscalers tools stack such as GCP or AWS.
  • Experience with data collection and streaming technologies, e.g. Flume, Apache Kafka, Logstash, Rsyslog
  • Knowledge of governance stack, permissions, data lineage e.g. Collibra
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Experience securing sensitive applications in a large corporate environment.
  • Skilled with SQL and database systems, e.g. Impala, Hive, Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, etc.
  • Familiarity working with NoSQL databases and unstructured/semi-structured data such as HBase, MongoDB, Couchbase or Cassandra, etc.

Other Critical Qualifications

  • Knowledge and practice of consolidation, virtualization and High Availability solutions.
  • Exposure to technology tracking and evaluation of new products and solutions.
  • Highly analytical skills and ability to work with large and complex technical data sets.
  • Ability to work within an agile framework.
  • Ability to oversee and work simultaneously on different requirements with a variety of projects and short timelines.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working with and presenting to all management levels.
  • Good business acumen to ensure technical solutions are created with business focus.
  • Very good analytical capabilities as well as organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are necessary (written, verbal and presentation skills).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the Telecommunications or Media industries.
  • Knowledge of TM Forum standard and CDMC framework.
  • GCP certified or equivalent.
  • Experience using Maven, Git, Jenkins, Se, Ansible or other continuous integration tools.
  • Played a leading role in the delivery of multiple end-to-end data platform projects.
  • Telecom Operations and Engineering Knowledge including wireless, wireline and media networks.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks like TOGAF.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
  • Programming/Software Development experience.
  • Autonomous and energetic individual.
