About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Perioperative Services, the Manager Surgical Wait List Management is operationally accountable for developing an effective approach to surgical wait list management including centralized surgical booking, evaluation, sustainability of clinical wait lists, ensuring timely and equitable access to surgical services. The Manager supports and engages in quality improvement programs establishing goals and objectives to improve access to surgical care. The Manager will create opportunities for innovation including research and technological advancements supporting Nova Scotia Health's commitment to enhanced surgical access. This position establishes, implements, and manages day to day operations of surgical bookings and the surgical booking team

The Manager will:

  • Provide leadership to NSH and Perioperative leaders, government, surgical services departments/divisions and program-based activities with evidenced based knowledge supporting reducing elective wait list and improving timely access to care.
  • Act as a change agent for improving utilization of clinical services by engaging operational leaders in activities focused on short-, medium- and long-term planning and identification of process to improve capacity and utilization.
  • Manage associated projects as related to the improvement and development of strategies aimed at improved access to care and innovation.
  • Remain abreast of developments within orthopaedic care to help identify best practice standards, support and integrate the collection of data into evidence-based decision making to reduce wait lists and foster an environment for research and learning.
  • Participate and support the development of provincial strategic and operational plans in achieving the reduction of wait lists and wait times.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Undergraduate degree in healthcare discipline.
  • Master's degree an asset, particularly in health administration, leadership, Master of Business Administration.
  • Certified Health Executive (CHE) and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) designation an asset.
  • Experience in a clinical setting
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and team members in a virtual environment
  • Minimum of 5 years' leadership experience in a health care setting
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clinical care providers required.
  • Demonstrated high degree of independent decision-making, self-direction, motivation, change management knowledge and team building/leadership skills required.

About You Continued

  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning.
  • Experience in project management, program development, and program evaluation, performance improvement design.
  • Ability to execute through effective delegation, motivation and oversight.
  • Strong people skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of health care delivery systems at multiple system levels
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines.
  • Important level of accuracy and diligence
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience in the application of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphics software
  • Experience in data analytics
  • Experience in financial planning
  • Experience in a perioperative surgical service setting preferred.
  • Clearly communicates the NSH vision, mission and values.

Hours

  • Permanent Full-time / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Travel to various sites may be required

Compensation and Benefits

$45.45 - $56.81 Hourly
