About the role
Join the Office of the SVP, Housing Economics and Insights Team, in the Advisor, HEI Scholar in Residence position. In this role, you will provide expert guidance and recommendations to the Chief Economist & SVP, Housing Insights (CE & SVP) and senior management on matters related to Data collection, dissemination and visualization.

You will promote best practices and innovation in data collection, dissemination, and visualization while ensuring effective decision-making and governance. You will lead initiatives to optimize performance, foster collaboration across teams, and contribute to the development of new data products, dissemination strategies and policies. Additionally, you will play a key role in performance optimization by developing new models and frameworks for data analysis and visualization, leveraging advanced technologies and innovative solutions.

Through effective communication, project management, and a proven track record of delivering results, you will enhance the organization's reputation for innovation and effectiveness in data collection, dissemination and visualization. Ultimately, your contributions will support the achievement of sector and corporate objectives.

This role is a rotational term opportunity with a defined mandate in the areas of Data collection, dissemination and visualization.

This is a temporary position with a duration of 18 to 24 months.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as internal expert, providing advice, identifying gaps and proposing solutions and best practices to the Chief Economist & SVP, as well as Housing Economics and Insights Sector (HEI) senior management team in areas related to data collection, dissemination and visualization, including enabling technologies (AI, machine learning, sensing, others), analysis and research foresight.   
  • Collaborate with HEI Directors and Deputy Chief Economists to mobilize teams across the sector to foster adoption of best practices and innovation in data collection, dissemination and visualization.
  • Develop innovative methodologies, frameworks and models for data collection, dissemination and visualization.
  • Define and implement an approach integrating best practices within the areas of data collection, dissemination and visualization; coordinate with the Deputy Chief Economists and Divisional teams to align with existing analytical tools and methodologies.
  • Work in collaboration with Deputy Chief Economists and other specialized colleagues to identify gaps in related best practices or lagging areas and finds and implements solutions at scale in short amount of time.  
  • Lead the collaboration with HEI Directors and Deputy Chief Economists to ensure best practices are employed by the Sector in developing and deploying new and innovative data, analysis, modelling and research techniques and processes.


What you should have:

  • A postgraduate degree in related fields such as economics, data science, or social sciences with experience in research, economics, or mathematics.  
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in data dissemination, quantitative or qualitative research, current analysis.
  • Demonstrated track record of implementing best practices and innovations in research, analysis, modeling or data collection.
  • Ability to use innovative thinking when generating ideas and solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders and with the ability to deliver a persuasive, clear presentation of ideas that will convince others and gain acceptance of proposals.
  • Strong leadership skills, with sound judgment in prioritizing internal delegation to promote an effective work environment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior management in the achievement of corporate and administrative objectives.


It would be great if you also had:

  • A master’s in business administration.
  • A PhD is preferred.
  • A post-doctoral experience is an asset.
