The Analyst, Data Lineage & Control is responsible for documenting all aspects of the data lineage lifecycle from the original source of the data to the point of consumption of the data into a report, including any associated data transformations. They maintain relationships with various business & IT stakeholders to understand & communicate details of data lineage.

What will you do?

  • Understand and document the lineage of CDEs from originating source to point of consumption of data into a report or other risk management activity.
  • Collaborate with other Data Management Offices, Data Custodians and Data Stewards to understand data lineage reporting standards and best practices.
  • Leverage data lineage artifacts captured by other Data Management Offices and share artifacts captured by Risk Data Management Office to avoid duplication of effort.
  • Identify & communicate options to optimize the process of data lineage capture and documentation.
  • Develop knowledge and become valuable team resource, supporting development of Data Lineage in general.
  • Work as part of an agile team responsible for end-to-end delivery of business needs
  • Work on transformational projects delivering new value
  • Constantly seek out better ways to do things, new tools, new technologies, new processes

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institute with a focus on Finance, Data Analysis or any other related data programs
  • Excellent intrapersonal and highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge
  • Knowledge of data manipulation and analysis tools such as Datameer, SQL
  • Strong MS Office skills - Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of handling and deriving information from large data sets.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls and compliance
  • Knowledge of data governance and metadata management tools such as Collibra
  • Knowledge of Lean or Process Improvement Designations
  • Knowledge of Management consulting experience with an emphasis on business strategy or Process / Productivity Improvements

Please note: This posting is for a 4-months Winter 2025 Student placement with a start date of January 2025, and end date of April 2025. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of April 2025 ; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in April 2025), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
