The role:

We are seeking highly skilled Senior Chemical Process Engineers to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in detailed process design and process optimization with a keen interest in mentoring and training junior engineers.

Previous experience in water treatment is not required but would be an asset. You will work closely with a team of industry specialists and pioneers in our field of practice.

Senior Process Engineers will:

  • Lead process design of lithium recovery and advanced desalination plants by implementing our repeatable modular water treatment unit operations.
  • Research process device options and specifications to determine the best technology and economic fit for a project.
  • Contribute to the design of new products.
  • Perform specific day-to-day- tasks such as:
    • Strategically designing process solutions to enable low-risk, cost-effective, and environmentally beneficial designs.
    • Developing mathematical process models.
    • Generating and maintaining PFDs, P&IDs, and mass balances throughout project phases.
    • Sizing and specifying equipment.
    • Developing control philosophies.
    • Participating in Process Hazard Analysis/HAZOPs.
    • Creating and overseeing commissioning plans.
  • Occasional hands-on work including commissioning, operating, and troubleshooting water treatment assets during commissioning at our facility or customer sites.
  • Drive pilot testing and innovation from concepts to reality by understanding customer or system requirements, developing test plans for pilot-scale or innovative systems, and executing those plans with the support of industry specialists.
  • Analyze and report operational and performance data, including interpretation and recommendations.
  • Contribute to innovation and technology development at Saltworks.
You will be a great fit if you have:
  • A relevant degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or Integrated Engineering, coupled with process design experience.
  • 8 to 10 years of post-graduation experience in process or chemical engineering within an industrial setting (covering design, testing, and operations).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Experience in developing P&IDs, preferably using AutoCAD P&ID or similar software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Hands-on tooling and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, maintain high-quality work, pay attention to detail, and quickly acquire new skills.
  • A positive attitude, a proactive approach, and a willingness to dive in and assist as needed.
