The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a pivotal role in the strategic management of the Company. This individual will oversee all financial activities, provide leadership in the development and enhancement of financial strategies and operations, and ensure the fiscal health and success of the organization. The CFO reports to and is the strategic finance advisor for the CEO, sits on the executive team, and works closely and collaboratively with the senior leadership team to drive the company’s financial vision and direction.


The ideal candidate brings a proven track record as CFO (or equivalent) in the construction, infrastructure, mining, energy, environmental or related industries. You will have a strong background in an international operating environment with multiple business units, several currencies, a rigorous reporting and consolidation structure, a deep understanding of data analytics, and all within a complex capital intensive operating environment.


JOB DESCRIPTION


Business Partnering

  • Strategic finance advisor to the CEO.
  • Work directly with the CEO and senior leadership team to advise on all strategic matters as they relate
    to finance.
  • Provide business units with financial insight, analysis, recommendations and ensure business decisions
    are grounded in sound financial criteria.
  • Network and partner with other leaders at the parent company levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders.


Financial Strategy and Planning

  • Lead, advise and support with key decisions as a member of the executive leadership team.
  • Lead, advise and support the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior
    leadership team; make actionable recommendations with regards to both strategy and operations.
  • Facilitate and execute growth plans.
  • Develop financial performance measures and assess organizational performance against the annual
    budget and the Company’s medium-term and long-term strategies.
  • Manage, maintain and ensure the Company’s healthy financial position.
  • Contribute to performing key tasks necessary to achieve the Company’s mission and vision.

    Finance Management
  • Oversee and lead the finance, accounting, tax and treasury functions.
  • Sponsor and develop financial and risk management plans, strategies and forecasts.
  • Oversee the production, preparation and reporting of accurate and timely financial and management
    information.
  • Management and monitoring of budgets and reforecasts.
  • Lead and oversee cashflow planning, analysis, forecasting and reporting.
  • Sponsor, develop and utilize predictive models, cost-benefit analyses, and other financial analyses
    to provide insight into the company’s operations, business plans, initiatives, and overall financial
    performance measures.
  • Represent the company to financial partners and manage relationships with banking, financial
    institutions, and insurance companies.
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding financial and tax reporting.
  • Oversee preparation of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial and management reporting;
    ensure compliance with regulatory and group reporting requirements.
  • Oversee and lead annual audits; serve as key point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.


Leadership and Team Development

  • Oversee the finance and accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting
    processes, systems, and functions;
  • Develop, manage, mentor and serve the finance and accounting team; manage skills development, work
    allocation, training, conflict resolution, performance evaluation to ultimately build an effective and high
    performing team.
  • Promote collaboration and communication within the finance team and across all departments.
  • Maintain in-depth relationships with the senior management team.



SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management/Administration required.
  • CPA, MBA or equivalent is a strong asset.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership, finance, and accounting experience required.

    Skills and Knowledge
  • Significant experience and knowledge of finance and accounting including compliance, controls and
    reporting.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to apply business principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster strong working relationships.
  • Excellent organization skills; must enjoy performing a wide variety of duties and be able to lead/manage
    multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Consistent and successful record of performance coupled with strong credibility and reputation for
    delivering results.
  • Proven ability to provide resolution to complex problems.
  • Strong communication, presentation and coaching skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS.
  • Strong knowledge of tax legislation across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office suite applications and Power BI is required.
  • Strong working experience with Oracle PeopleSoft and other Tier 1 ERP’s is considered an asset.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English. Conversational French and/or Spanish is an asset.
