Possible Placement:
Process Data Operations - This role provides hands-on experience with industrial data systems and tools, helping you gain skills in data modeling, system maintenance, and reporting. Working alongside a senior data engineer, you will contribute to maintaining the health and performance of production data systems, resolving data issues, and assisting in the creation of insightful reports and visualizations.
OT Integrity and Integration - As a Process Control Technologist Student, you will support the Operations Technology (OT) Integrity and Integration group within the Canadian Thermal and Conventional Heavy Oil business unit. You will be exposed to various aspects of process control and automation, focusing on control system optimization, safety system designs, and instrumentation management. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to real-world industrial operations, process control systems, and automation technologies.
Automation Support - This student role will work with the Operational Technology and Automation Team to assist in the configuration, troubleshooting, and development of SCADA and DCS systems within Cenovus's Conventional business. The position provides hands-on experience with automation technologies and offers the opportunity to develop technical skills in instrumentation and programming.

What you'll do
Process Data Operations
Assist in maintaining and optimizing data historian systems to ensure accurate and efficient data collection.
Perform system maintenance, resolve data integrity issues, and support configuration changes.
Collaborate on developing process data models and implement pipelines for data ingestion and reporting.
Contribute to creating dashboards and visualizations for stakeholders using tools like Power BI and Excel.
OT Integrity and Integration
Assist in optimizing control systems by supporting alarm management and control loop performance tuning.
Work on implementing graphic style sheets to improve control system user interfaces.
Support the in managing control system inputs/outputs and aligning them with instrumentation specifications.
Help update and maintain corporate specifications for process control and instrumentation.
Automation Support
Troubleshoot configuration issues between PLC/RTU devices and the CygNet SCADA system.
Make configuration changes related to gas analysis and well dynamics.
Develop user interface screens using VB.NET and HTML5 for enhanced system performance.
Collaborate with key stakeholders such as Operations, Measurement, and Production Accounting to ensure system accuracy and performance.
Participate in project development, including redeveloping existing screens and supporting automated gas analysis initiatives.
Qualifications
Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).
Available to begin work in May 2025.
Experience in auditing or oil and gas is considered an asset.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, Outlook).
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and research skills.
Education
Must be enrolled in a Business, Engineering, Engineering Technologist, Computer Sciences, or related undergraduate program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary.
Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
