About this opportunity:
Cenovus is looking for a Senior Process Chemical Management Engineer/Technologist to manage the Oil Sand Operations chemical strategic plan. Primary responsibilities include developing technical and commercial strategies to reduce the Chemical Driver Opex and total cost of ownership for chemical programs in SAGD facilities in collaboration with Operations, Engineering, SCM, and other support teams.
What you'll do:
Manage the Oil Sand Operations chemical strategic plan and act as the process chemical SME
Develop technical and commercial strategies to reduce Opex of chemical programs and improve operational stability of facilities
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, SCM, and other support teams to achieve strategic goals
Work with Operations and Engineering to understand chemical programs' deficiencies, develop ideas, and determine solutions
Accountable to have strong working knowledge of Oil Sands facilities operations and the application of process chemicals
Manage process chemical development at Foster Creek, Christina Lake, and Sunrise Oil sands facilities, as well as mentor and coach Engineering and Operations teams
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
An engineer, technologist, or chemist, with a post-secondary education, or a relevant education
Minimum 8+ years of experience in SAGD / Thermal production operations
Minimum 8+ years of experience in the application and development of chemical programs in SAGD / Thermal production.
Proven expertise in emulsion, water, and steam treatment
Demonstrated ability to manage operating costs, budgets, and forecasts, as well as experience in managing and prioritizing initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders
