About this opportunity:
Cenovus is seeking a Senior Cloud Advisor to join their Data &IT Portfolio Delivery & Cloud Office. Reporting to the Manager, you will be an integral team member of the Cloud Business Office responsible for day-to-day effective cloud governance & reporting for the organization.
The successful candidate will have an objective to reduce the data center footprint by establishing a path for the operations team to migrate the legacy infrastructure to a public cloud through a fast and efficient approach while maintaining adherence to architectural standards/principles, guidelines, and usability design standards and support audit finding remediation plans.
What you'll do:
Establish guidance, policies, and processes for cloud spend management, identifies potential cloud-related risks related to IT spend and provides risk-mitigation mentorship to teams responsible for deploying and managing cloud resources
Identify cloud cost optimization recommendations that are aligned to industry standard methodologies including process changes and cost governance strategies
Design, align, socialize, update, and approve all cloud related policies & standards and drive technical assessments to identify deviation and possibilities
Play a key role in the governance framework of cloud processes, ensuring we have it formalized, updated, documented, and well communicated
Seamlessly integrates Data & IT Cloud financial process into overall Data & IT financial processes in month-end, forecast, budgeting, and long-range planning process
Works with Data & IT Business Office to provide key inputs to the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), budget and value analysis of cloud projects and migrations
Drives FinOps cultural approach, stays up to date on the best standard processes, identifies actionable improvement opportunities and provides recommendations
Creates important metrics for performance benchmarking and responsible for financial forecasts and planning
Reviews new cloud account requests, maps accounts to business units and cost centers, and maintains cloud resource tagging standards
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
8+ years in the industry as a whole in particular within a technology leadership role
Understanding of optimization opportunities using on-premises entitlements in cloud (e.g., Azure Hybrid Benefit, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans)
Be familiar with cloud cost management and reporting platforms such as Azure Cost Management, Azure Advisor, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor, etc
In-depth experience in project control and management and workforce plan management
Experience identifying issues and solutions in forecasting, acquiring, managing, and deploying resources
Experience effectively interacting and communicating with business partners
Experience establishing critical metrics and service levels that translate into improved client experiences
Strong understanding in Power BI and other FinOps tools (Ignio or similar) to build dashboards and reports
