Job Summary

A key IT role within Wealth Management Technology & Solutions, Data Services Canada team, you will be a Sr. Business System Analyst that will act as an SME for Global Wealth Management Data Hub and provide leadership covering a range of data analysis functions. These include data mapping, data profiling, data quality, extract-transform-load (ETL) requirements, metadata enrichment and management, data provenance and lineage and other specialized data management functions. You will work in collaboration with IT and Business Partners to assess, research, and analyze data needs in order to support business insights and strategy.

What will you do?

  • Work with IT and Business Partners to understand the business meaning of data, provide analysis and requirements so that data design is fully understood and the development initiatives are in line with intended design and standards
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of data available from upstream sources and data within various data platforms and provide expert counseling to application development community
  • Elicit, analyze, interpret business and data requirements to develop complete solutions, including data mapping, business rules and system specifications
  • Contribute to process standardization and creation of Wealth Data Hub scalable solutions
  • Provide guidance to colleagues and clients related to gathering and assessing data to ensure that appropriate data-management practices are known and complied with
  • Lead complex group meetings (including business partners) for technical design, decision making, problem solving, implementation and strategic planning
  • Monitor work processes and client satisfaction, recommend changes for continuous improvement
  • Engage with data managers, stewards and owners to implement, maintain, and enhance data governance, quality and related policies, aligning with RBC standards and framework

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Strong business domain understanding of Wealth-Management and Trading life cycle.
  • Excellent data analysis skills and solid background dealing with other IT applications. Good SQL knowledge to query databases in order to complete data analysis.
  • Proficient at creating Technical Specifications for the development team to build the solution whether it's batch file extract, API real-time call or Kafka near real-time notifications.
  • 5+ years of experience working closely with in-memory or relational databases to provide data services to other IT partners or business.
  • Professional with experience on large projects/programs with multiple internal applications and/or 3rd party vendors.
  • Experience with Agile methodology and familiar with Confluence and Jira tools.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of key Databases, primarily dealing with large data volume, database schema design and exposure to enterprise reporting and analytic tools based on Hadoop/HDFS sourced data like Tableau.
  • Experience with Front, Middle and Back office teams of Asset Management, Broadridge Data Services, Brokerage Institutions, Prime Brokerage Services, Canadian Registered Products and Regulatory rules.
  • Dealt with different instrument types such as Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives, Money Market Instruments and OTC Derivatives.
  • Proven leader and experienced in managing a small team that brings strong planning, estimating, budget management, reporting and coordination experience in future.
