As the trusted technology partner, essential to the fulfillment of WCB's strategic objectives, the Business Technology Services (BTS) division works collaboratively and creatively with our partners, to provide secure, innovative technology and data solutions that position WCB Alberta as an industry leader in Worker's Compensation.

Reporting to the Manager, Cyber Security, the IT Security Analyst III will provide technical direction, support, and training to Business Technology Services (BTS) team members. Assist clients, IT projects and other BTS departments in unique situations requiring a broader knowledge of IT Security, Change Management and Disaster Recovery Planning, and to provide direct input in the technical direction of the BTS team and its services.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design and implement solutions for complex IT security related problems.
  • Define Security standards and architecture to ensure the confidentiality and availability of WCB computing resources.
  • Participate in Threat Hunting and Incident Response processes.
  • Leadership in the planning and support of IT Security and Change Management environments.
  • Configure and support EDR, IPS, Web Reputation, SIEM, and other security technologies.
  • Develop standards for the implementation of system changes to the Production, Pre-production, and Training environments.
  • Perform threat and risk assessments.
  • Design and Implement security solutions for cloud products including Microsoft Azure, Power BI, D365 and SaaS applications.
  • Research and evaluate technology and best practices, and work as a team in designing integrated, flexible, and reliable security, change management and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Plan and lead larger technology implementation projects requiring the management of up to five individuals and following WCB APAC standards.
  • Educate, coach, and lead junior Security Analyst staff.

Your experience and skills:

  • Graduate from a recognized university or institute of technology in a computer related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the IT security industry, with at least 3 years of technical support experience.
  • Technical training must be up to date in the Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, and security products (such as SIEM, IPS/IDS, email/web filter, etc…)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as excellent client service skills.
  • Ability to lead a team, bring forward new ideas and make concepts a reality.
  • Good business writing skills.
  • Good understanding of business drivers
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing activities on a regular basis.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technology quickly.

Salary: $76,296 to $89,724 per annum (Pay Grade 11)
