Skunk Works® is seeking a Business Development Lead within our Lockheed Martin Canada CDL Systems commercial software division. If you are a hardworking, self-starter, eager to lead in a dynamic environment, come join our team as Business Development Lead - Unmanned Systems Command and Control (C2) Software supporting our Small Uncrewed Aerial Systems (SUAS) portfolio in Calgary, AB, Canada.

In this dynamic role you will:

  • Develop and execute an overall customer focused strategic plan addressing both short & long-term growth
  • Identify & establish key industry partnerships to maximize new business growth for commercial software applications developed by Lockheed Martin Canada CDL Systems, including VCSi C2 and Northstar Vision-Based Navigation products
  • Actively participate in capture teams on key business opportunities
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to create technology roadmaps & related Internal Research & Development (IR&D) and Customer Research & Development (CRAD) projects to create discriminators necessary to develop and win new business
  • Lead cross business integration & partnership activities related to this division
  • Shape & win new business through a balanced focus on the customer’s mission, best value, and the competitive environment
  • Develop & maintain effective customer, teammate, & internal relationships.

What you bring to the role

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of business development experience in the Unmanned Systems and/or software industry
  • A bachelor’s degree in commerce, Economics, Marketing, Engineering or equivalent
  • A proven track record of success of conducting business development for software applications in security and defence markets worldwide
  • A broad defence industry experience with recent focus on Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) development, acquisition, operation and sustainment
  • The ability to leverage technical and managerial relationships to assist with the identification of opportunities in the areas of mission operation, mission systems and applications, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and unmanned ground control systems
  • To pass the Canadian Controlled Goods (CG) Program Security Assessment Application; meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations requirements, if any; and secure a Canadian Government North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret Clearance
  • The ability to travel as needed.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Experience developing short and long-term strategies
  • Experience communicating with or briefing executive leadership, employees, peers, customers, and/or stakeholders to establish and maintain a productive working relationship
  • Deep network in the unmanned vehicle market with a particular focus on military customers (including primes for US military end users) and a secondary focus on commercial customers
  • Technical acumen in the operations of unmanned systems and the exploitation of their data
  • Strong knowledge of the customer acquisition process
  • Program management experience
  • Demonstrated, excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • A proven ability to solve complex technical problems
  • Understanding of import/export licensing (International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance), offset, regulation/policy, and legal implications with doing business overseas.
