Overview of role:

The Analyst, Data Platforms reporting to the Manager - Data Platforms, is a key technical resource within the Digital Enablement team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include establishing best practices for data modelling, adhering self-service solutions to best practices, and supporting users of our data platforms.

The Analyst will also be involved in an Agile framework, participating in the planning and delivery of user stories. You will be asked to deep dive into existing solutions to perform optimizations, which may include development of custom platform functionality. The successful candidate is expected to build strong relationships with our stakeholders, with user empowerment always being at top of mind.

Key deliverables include:

  • Contribute to our Centre of Excellence, including best practices documentation, training/onboarding materials, and user community support.
  • Provide guidance on (and fulfill) data platform requirements for self-service analysts.
  • Administer and configure applications to enable self-service with proper guardrails.
  • Optimize performance for self-service ETL and reporting solutions.
  • Understanding of overall architecture for technology supported, and knowledge sharing.
  • Configure connectivity and integrations across multiple data platforms.
  • Improvement of security posture within technology stack supported.
  • Explore new technologies and capabilities for our data platform roadmap.
  • Support change, incident, problem management within the data platform team.
  • Ticket management, and documentation of steps taken to fix or improve work items.
  • Knowledge management input, including creation of support runbooks.
  • Transition day-to-day operational tasks to our Managed Services where possible.
  • Participation in relevant audits if required.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation for platform and process support.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Technical Field
  • 2+ years of Data Developer experience in ETL development and data modelling
  • 2+ years of Data Warehouse exposure in an agile environment
  • 1+ year of Applications or Systems Administration experience
  • Expertise in SQL, with Python being an asset
  • Strong understanding of basic networking, including application to database connections
  • Preferred candidates with experience in PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx or Snowflake
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to balance parallel workstreams independently
  • Incident and problem management skills, ability to determiolsne root cause from outcomes
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and developers' tools.
